Club takes care as limited play resumes ( amended from a County Gazette article by Jeremy Toye )

We’ve re-opened the courts to members for games of singles and single-family doubles, following government and Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) guidelines on staying safe and well during the pandemic.

Hand sanitisers and LTA posters reminding members to wash hands and maintain social distancing are in place.

Players, who must be club members, are required to supply their own marked balls: tubes are available for purchase at the club for £5 each. Hand washing before and after games is recommended, with access to the clubhouse restricted to use of the toilets in emergencies.

Within minutes of reopening on May 17th, a family of four was using one court for doubles and two singles players warming up on another.

“We’ve just had a lovely game,” one of the players reported. “All worked well – social distancing achieved,” said another.

Since then, there has been a steady stream of players making the most of the lovely sunshine.

If you would like to play, please make sure that you have paid the current membership fee: we’ve reduced it to take account of the downtime.  Players who have already paid for the full season will get credits for next year.

Here are the current reduced fees applicable during May.

Adults – £100

Juniors – £8

Students – £21

Families – £185
