Frying pans upstaged racquets on the courts and in the clubhouse as youngsters marked Pancake Day in glorious winter sunshine on 13 February 2018.

Andrew Disney, assisted by Noel Binding, led the dozen juniors through a series of games and obstacle courses made from some of the new equipment recently bought with a Persimmon grant.

And then it was a taste of Wimbledon’s strawberries and cream in the clubhouse as Andrew’s girlfriend Emily prepared pancakes made on the spot by Andrew’s mum Pat. Parents were on hand, but the goodies were all for the kids.

This was the second year of the Shrove Tuesday celebrations at the Club, with a bigger turnout this time round. Pancakes might have had something to do with that.
