The hot summer season at Wiveliscombe Tennis Club is now well under way, combining organised matches with simple playing for fun on any day of the week.
While the newly-promoted  A team battles with the big shots in the second section of the West Somerset League, the B team has risen to the top of its division.  The veterans team opened its season with a win over Minehead.
Internal tournaments saw Sue Courtney and Chris Field take the honours in the Ladies’ Doubles on May 20th, with David Face and Jeremy Toye grabbing the Men’s Doubles title on June 120th.
But the biggest increase in activity has been in the number of members of all ages and abilities making the most of the great weather out on court, just playing. Some of them won trips Wimbledon in the Club’s annual ballot, though they won’t be appearing on court there (yet).
